Website Launch Checklist
Going live is not the moment to discover that the form does not send, the wrong domain is indexed, or nobody knows how to roll the site back. This is the production checklist we would want in front of any business before launch.
DOMAIN + DNS
Confirm the production domain resolves to the intended hosting environment. Verify root and www behavior, remove stale records, and document the final DNS configuration.
SSL + HTTPS
Confirm the certificate is valid and every production page loads over HTTPS without mixed-content warnings.
FORMS + EMAIL
Submit every form from desktop and mobile. Confirm the message is delivered, the reply path is correct, and domain authentication for transactional email is healthy.
MOBILE + BROWSERS
Test the real site on phones, tablets, desktop browsers, and in-app browsers where your audience is likely to open links.
SEO FOUNDATIONS
Verify unique titles and descriptions, canonical URLs, robots.txt, sitemap.xml, indexability, structured data, and meaningful heading hierarchy.
ANALYTICS
Confirm analytics is actually recording visits and key pages after deployment. A dashboard that is installed but not collecting data is not useful.
PERFORMANCE
Check image weight, layout stability, loading behavior, and Core Web Vitals. Fix obvious production bottlenecks before driving traffic.
LINKS + CONTENT
Click navigation, calls to action, social links, downloads, phone numbers, and email links. Review spelling, outdated copy, placeholder text, and empty states.
BACKUPS + ROLLBACK
Know where the source code lives, how production is deployed, and how to restore a known-good version if something breaks.
OWNERSHIP + HANDOFF
Document domains, hosting, analytics, email services, repositories, and credentials. The business should know what it owns and who operates it.
Launch should be boring in the best possible way.
